We are delighted to announce that EdinburghJudo have had three athletes selected to compete at the upcoming Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Team Scotland recently announced the 13-player judo team.

With around six weeks to go, Olympian and two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Sarah Adlington will lead the squad. Current British champion and EdinburghJudo Performance Coach Scott Cusack will join his teammates, along with the youngest on the team, 18-year-old Eva Ewing.

On her third selection for Team Scotland, Sarah commented: ‘It’s great that Glasgow has been given the opportunity again to showcase the Commonwealth Games. I’m excited and honoured to be selected for my third Games.’

Sarah will step on to the mat in Glasgow, looking to make it a hat-trick of gold medals, something no other judoka in the world has ever achieved. As the emotions, nerves and excitement run high, this will be Sarah’s last competitive appearance.

For Scott, it’s his first Games, following in the footsteps of both his mum Loretta, and dad, Billy, who achieved Commonwealth gold and bronze respectively in Auckland in 1990. Scott said: “I’m proud to be following in their footsteps, and I’m excited to be a member of Team Scotland. It’s something I’ve worked towards for a long time.”

Sarah and Scott are both well known in and around the club and schools, so this is super exciting.
